The Cleveland Branch NAACP marked its 100th Anniversary in 2012. The newly elected President of the Cleveland Branch NAACP, Rev. Hilton Smith, continues a century long legacy of improving the political, educational, social and economic status of minority groups throughout Cleveland. Rev. Smith has outlined initiatives he plans to pursue during his 2-year term, including: a membership drive that will attract new members and young professionals to become active within the organization, economic development and continuous improvement to the educational systems.

Rev. Smith is also Senior Vice President of Corporate and Community Affairs for Turner Construction Company. In this position, he has helped thousands of women and minorities start their businesses through a series of business development programs. Rev. Smith has served on many prominent boards throughout Northeast Ohio and nationally. He is also an Associate Pastor at the Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church in Cleveland.
