Beyond the Dish: Crop Bistro and Bar
Nowadays, when we need a little cash in our pockets, we go straight to the ATM. But folks in the early 1900’s didn’t have that luxury. In this edition of “Beyond the Dish,” ideastream’s Lauren Wilson visits restaurateur and chef Steve Schimoler of Crop Bistro and Bar in Ohio City, who is using his eatery to pay homage to that era and has taken the old saying “put your money where your mouth is.”
Van Gogh, Repetitions
When the Cleveland Museum of Art found out that another museum had a Van Gogh painting almost identical to CMA’s Large Plane Trees, it got them wondering what the heck was going on. It’s a question that’s led to a new exhibit called Van Gogh, Repetitions.
The Cleveland Orchestra’s The Cunning Little Vixen
The Cleveland Orchestra’s upcoming production about a mischievous fox called The Cunning Little Vixen, isn’t your typical opera. Think of it more as operatic animation, in which the live performers interact with on-screen characters. To pull it off, the producers are turning Severance Hall into a movie theater with three huge screens and high-powered digital projectors. We take a look ‘behind the screens’ to see how it’s all coming together.
Applause America: The Grand Jete
The Grand Jete! It’s one of the most spectacular leaps in ballet, where each nuance of muscularity, balance, distance and height comes together to form a comprehensive motion. From our PBS affiliate in Columbus - WOSU - we bring you the science behind this artful movement in this edition of Applause America.
