ideastream Names Annie Wu as News Director

CLEVELAND, Ohio (June 28, 2018) — ideastream has promoted Annie Wu to the newly created position of news director at ideastream. ideastream is the parent company of WVIZ/PBS, 90.3 WCPN and WCLV 104.9. As of May 31, Wu will lead editorial decision-making for day-to-day news coverage as well as feature reporting across all platforms. She will also ensure that ideastream maintains the highest editorial and journalistic standards in its news gathering and reporting. Among her many other duties, Wu will represent ideastream with regional, community and industry organizations and manage partnerships for content, projects and events.

Since 2015, Wu has served as associate editor on the ideastream news team overseeing daily news stories across all ideastream platforms, including online, radio and television and serving as the liason between ideastream and its national news partners, such as NPR, Marketplace and WBUR’s “Here & Now.” Prior to joining ideastream, she was the acting news director at WAMU in Washington, D.C., an assistant producer working on NPR’s “Weekend All Things Considered” and an independent producer with the Public Radio Exchange.

“Annie is an accomplished journalist whose reporting has been heard nationally. Her dedication to maintaining objectivity, balance and fairness makes her a great choice to lead the ideastream news department,” said ideastream Chief Content Officer Mark Rosenberger. “Her leadership skills will help drive innovative and informative news stories that support the mission of ideastream.”

Wu resides on Cleveland’s east side where she took a break from journalism to work as a stay-at-home mom before returning to public media.
