ideastream Honored with 2018 RTDNA National Edward R. Murrow Award

CLEVELAND, Ohio (June 27, 2018) — The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) has recognized ideastream with a 2018 RTDNA National Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Video in the Large Market Radio category. This award recognizes ideastream as one of only 89 local and network radio, television and digital news organizations to receive this distinction nationwide.

The award-winning video from ideastream was selected as one of the 118 winning pieces from over 4,400 entries. Created by senior reporter/producer David C. Barnett and multiple media producer Mary Fecteau, the video features antiques expert and Shaker Heights resident Terry Kovel and her expansive collectibles empire.

Since 1971, RTDNA has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards. The Murrow Awards are the embodiment of the values, principles and standards set forth by Edward R. Murrow, a journalism pioneer who set the standards for the highest quality of broadcast journalism. Of the awards given to journalists, the Murrow Awards are among the most respected and prestigious journalism awards in the world.

“It is truly an honor to be recognized with a National Murrow Award. This particular award is a testament to the multiple media, multi-platform approach ideastream takes with journalism and storytelling. To receive an award in the radio category for video production exemplifies our goal of creating great stories on all platforms,” said Mark Rosenberger, chief content officer at ideastream. Congratulations to our talented, dedicated journalists for receiving this prestigious recognition.”

“Winning an RTDNA National Edward R. Murrow Award means that a news organization has provided exemplary public service to its viewers, listeners and readers. These honorees truly represent the very best in broadcast and digital journalism around the world,” said Dan Shelley, RTDNA executive director.

One representative of ideastream will be invited to accept the award onstage at the RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Awards Gala at Gotham Hall in New York City on October 22.
