Thanks in part to the many positive comments sent, Congress passed a budget bill that preserves federal funding for public media.
Many of you told Congress that public broadcasting is an essential public service that is too important to eliminate. By making your voice heard to our legislators, you showed that public broadcasting is an essential service to the American people.
Without public broadcasting, our communities would lose access to the safe-haven of children’s non-commercial educational content, in-depth news and public affairs programming, access to the world of arts and culture locally, nationally and internationally, and the local voice that weaves the diverse perspectives of our communities together.
It is likely that this is not the last time there will be calls to eliminate our funding and we encourage you to stay involved. If you haven’t done so, please visit 170millionamericans.org and sign up to receive updates.
Again, from all of us at WVIZ/PBS and 90.3 WCPN, thank you!
